9 月 10, 2015

This month, many anti-hunger organizations participate in Hunger Action Month — a nationwide initiative to raise awareness of hunger and promote ways for individuals to get involved to create lasting change.

We want to share just a few examples of how some of CAFB’s member food banks are engaging their communities throughout the state.

#IfOnlyYouKnew

Alameda County Community Food Bank’s #IfOnlyYouKnew campaign will educate legislators and the community by sharing first-hand accounts from seniors and disabled individuals affected by Supplemental Security Income (SSI/SSP) cuts on its Hunger Action Month脸书 pages.

“30 ways in 30 days”

圣克拉拉和圣马特奥县第二收获食品银行, Feeding America Riverside | San Bernardino Counties人们的食物 in Humboldt County each created a “30 ways in 30 days” online calendar.

The calendars make it easy for folks to stay engaged throughout the month with daily actions, such as:

  • Learning more about hunger and nutrition policies;
  • Fundraising and donating proceeds; and
  • Getting involved through social media, volunteerism, blogging, discussions, and advocacy.

Finally, if you’ve seen some selfies with spoons over social media, you’ve seen Feeding America’s #Spoontember campaign, another Hunger Action Month reminder of the ways we can all play a role in ending hunger.

Interested in getting involved with anti-hunger activities in your own community? Enter your zip code here to connect with your local food bank and start taking action!
