This week, we are thrilled to put the spotlight on the 埃尔多拉多县食品银行. The Food Bank of El Dorado County was established in 2000, and for more than 20 years the they has cared for their community — even in the midst of disaster.
On April 30 of this year, the food bank’s facility was filled to the brim with Caldor Fire survivors, community members, faith based organizations, and emergency resource organizations, plus District II Supervisor George Turnboo, Sheriff John D’Agostini, Assemblyman Kevin Kiely, and Congressman John McClintock.
With nearly 500 people in attendance, the Food Bank of El Dorado County wanted to bring the community together to show the survivors that they are not fighting this fight alone and that the community is here to support them. The day was dedicated the day to the survivors.
The evening was filled with laughter, hospitality, music, and of course, food. In partnership with the El Dorado County Foundation, the food bank was able to distribute gift cards to hundreds of families.
April 30 was a vision from Food Bank Executive Director Mike Sproull, who believes that by working together, organizations like theirs can make a difference in the lives of neighbors who have lost everything.
In partnership with El Dorado County Veteran’s Commission, the Food Bank of El Dorado County is proud to act as the emergency food assistance safety net for local veterans and their families. Their “No Vet Goes Hungry” program provides information and assistance catered to veterans in the community — you can learn more 这里.
Additionally, the food bank has teamed up with the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians to help older adults with their Commodity Supplemental Food Program. This collaborative outreach provides supplemental, nutrient-dense food boxes on a bimonthly basis to low-income adults 60 years and older. You can learn more about it 这里.
We are proud to have the Food Bank of El Dorado County as one of our member food banks; the dedicated work that they put in for their community is inspiring. You can learn more about them by checking out their 网站 or following them on 脸书 和 Instagram的.
