New report on Aging, Women, and Poverty in California

December 2, 2016

A new report is available on the issues facing aging Californian women living in poverty. One in five Californian adults lives below the poverty line. Aging women, especially women of color, face a host of challenges that are the result of unequal pay, higher healthcare costs, and caregiving responsibilities. The report, “Aging, Women and Poverty in California: We Must Do More,” was written in collaboration with the California Commission on Aging, the California Women’s Law Center, and the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls, with participation from Justice in Aging.

The report’s writers hope that the piece will be used by new and returning members of Congress during decision-making that affects the services and policies elder Californians use.
