Update on Food for Wildfire Victims

In response to California’s Camp and Woolsey Fires, CDSS has received federal approval for the following CalFresh: 

Disaster CalFresh has been approved for people who lived or worked in the in the following locations when the fires started: 

• • Butte County (county-wide) starting December 12
    • Disaster CalFresh applications will be accepted December 12-14 AND December 17-20. The Disaster CalFresh flyer and press release are currently under review and expected to be available next week in English, Spanish, and Hmong languages. 
  • Los Angeles County starting December 3
    • Zip codes: 90263, 90264, 90265, 90290,91012, 91301, 91302, 91304, 91307, 91311, 91361, 91362, and 91372
    • Press Release in English and Spanish
  • Ventura County starting December 3
    • Zip codes: 91320, 91361 , 91362, 91377, 93012, 93042, and 93065
    • Press Release in English and Spanish

Automatic Mass Replacement Benefits have been approved for the following locations:

• • Butte County
    • Zip Codes: 95978, 95942, 95954, and 95969 
  • Plumas County
    • Zip Codes: 95923, 95984, 95956, 95983, 96137, 95947, 95971, 95934, and 95915
  • Los Angeles
    • Zip Codes: 90263, 90290, 90265, and 91302.
  • Ventura County
    • Zip Codes: 91377

Automatic Disaster Supplements for ongoing CalFresh households have been approved in the following locations: 

• • Butte County
    • Zip Codes: 95916, 95928, 95942, 95954, 95965, 95966, 95969, and 95978
  • Los Angeles County
    • Zip Codes: 90263, 90290, 90265, 91302, 90264, 91012, 91301, 91304, 91307, 91361, 91362, and 91372
  • Ventura County
    • Zip Codes: 91377, 91320, 91361, 91362, 93012, 93042, and 93065

Timely Reporting of Food Loss Waiver has been approved for the following locations:

• • Butte, Ventura, and Los Angeles counties
    • The Timely Reporting Waiver will allow households in these affected counties to make a request for replacement of CalFresh benefits through December 10, 2018. These replacement CalFresh benefits will allow households to replace food lost due to power outages and evacuations resulting from the Camp and Woolsey Fires. 

Hot Foods Waiver has been approved for the following locations:

• • Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Plumas, Tehama, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Sutter, Yuba, and Ventura Counties.
    • The Hot Foods Waiver will allow hot foods to be purchased at CalFresh authorized retailers has been approved through December 17, 2018. Please be aware that retailers may need as much as 24-36 hours to make changes that will allow for sale of hot foods.  Please set appropriate expectations when messaging hot foods availability to CalFresh participants.   As a reminder, CDSS will post these and other materials about the disaster on their D-CalFresh website.
