211 San Diego is a nonprofit organization, connecting people to the community and health services they need. Through free, confidential services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through our locally staffed contact center and searchable online database, 211 San Diego helps individuals and families access essential resources, including housing assistance, food assistance, healthcare, mental health services, utility assistance, veteran services, and more. As a trusted community connector, 211 San Diego partners with local organizations to improve access to care and strengthen the well-being of communities throughout San Diego County.
As a CalFresh Outreach contractor since 2009, 211 San Diego provides over-the-phone CalFresh application assistance to local residents, completing more than 25,000 applications in 2025 — approximately 12% of the region’s total CalFresh applications — resulting in $53 million in direct food benefits and an estimated $80–95 million in regional economic impact. 211 San Diego also shares data with partners including the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank to help target resources such as food distribution based on emerging need across San Diego County.
The Food ACCESS Speaker Series, presented by PG&E, convenes anti-hunger leaders and advocates to discuss equitable food access and drive solutions for ending hunger in California.

In this inaugural virtual event, we discussed the challenges for people experiencing food insecurity and how hunger and poverty has been perpetuated.
