California Food Policy Advocates - County Profiles
CFPA compiles data from a variety of sources to create profiles for the state of California and for individual counties. These include demographic information, hunger statistics, and participation in state and federal nutrition programs. To find your county's information, simply click “Select a county” to see a drop-down menu of individual county data.
The California Poverty Measure
Produced jointly by the Stanford Center on Poverty and Inequality and the Public Policy Institute of California, the California Poverty Measure offers a more accurate picture of poverty than the Census by 1) taking into account real costs affecting low-income Californians like medications and the high cost of rent and food here, and 2) showing the importance of our safety net programs in lifting Californians out of poverty.
California Department of Social Services - CalFresh Data Dashboard
The DSS Data Dashboard is a trove of information about CalFresh, the state Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Because many of the data sets are dense, there is a How to Use the Data Dashboard file that is a great starting point for understanding all of the information available on the site.

USDA Economic Research Service - Food and Nutrition Assistance
The Economic Research Service (ERS) of the USDA provides studies and evaluations of national food and nutrition assistance programs, including child nutrition programs, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). The ERS also provides background and research on food security in the U.S.

USDA Food and Nutrition Service - Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
The USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) houses national data on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), including number of participants, participation rate compared with eligible persons, and average monthly benefit by state.

U.S. Census Bureau - American Community Survey
The American Community Survey (ACS) is the largest survey providing data on communities throughout the U.S. other than the decennial census. The ACS tracks poverty, income inequality, and supplemental poverty measures among other measures of poverty.
